Canem x Lillunn
Canem Studio has paired up with the iconic Norwegian fashion brand Lillunn for our 2020 collection. Here is why /
On the right track to zero waste production /
During the manufacturing process of clothing, it is inevitable that some of the raw materials get discarded as waste. This is usually cut offs or excess materials that is left after cutting out the pattern pieces of a garment from the fabrics.
As a part of our sustainability mission, Canem Studio seeks to use excess materials as a resource and in this way help other brands eliminate waste in order to get closer to their sustainability goals. Our mission is to always support local, environmentally friendly, traceable production. We have been lucky enough to start a collaboration with Lillunn of Norway.
This is Lillunn /
Lillunn was founded in 1953 by Norwegian designer Unn Søiland Dale. She started off making high quality garments from wool blankets, and was inspired by the traditions of cruise lines, like Hurtigruten, to use blankets to stay warm on deck. Today, Lillunn still weaves their wool fabrics on the original loomtops, and the wool is traceably sourced from the Gol area of Norway.
A history of collaborations /
Beginning her fashion career in Paris, founder Unn Søiland Dale lead Lillunn to collaborate with french fashion houses like Dior and Givenchy in the 80s, as well as designing iconic knits like Eskimo and Marius. The collections of Lillunn have been unique and successful across borders for more than 50 years and her best designs are still in their collections.
